The Avocado Pit used bookstore at the western edge of Staunton, VA, is located at 2621 West Beverley Street. Exit 220 off I-81 to State Road 262 going north. (262 starts at the exit) Fourth exit off 262 is the Parkersburg Turnpike. Exit onto that, turning right onto West Beverley Street. The store is 3/10ths of a mile on the left, with ample parking.

We relocated to our new shop in January 2012, and are still organizing and reorganizing as we buy and unpack more books.

You will find a small but diverse selection of used books, including occasional remainders and publisher's closeouts. There is a wide range of topics available in paperbacks, softcovers, and hardcovers with emphasis on Genealogy, Art, Military, Hunting, Virginiana, Technical, Cookbooks and Children's books, including Juvenile Series. Old maps, documents, books on tape, videos, and interesting or unusual items, are offered when available.

We also sell books online at Amazon.com, Abebooks.com, Alibris.com, and Biblio.com and developed BookTrakker software for bookdealers to sell books online at Amazon, Abebooks, Alibris and other venues.

History
The Avocado Pit opened its doors in July 1997 in Charlottesville, VA.  In earlier years, we owned and operated bookstores in Staunton, Va, and Littleton, NH.  We have been Used and Rare Bookdealers since 1986 and are the developers of BookTrakker Pro™ software for online booksellers. We moved from Staunton to Charlottesville in 1997, returning to Staunton in early 2012.

Buying Books
We buy any books that we feel we can resell, whether it is a single book or a whole collection.  We are willing to come out and see your books if you have a large collection of books of interest to us.  We do not buy Reader's Digest Condensed books, sets of encyclopedias, any books that are mildewed, severely damaged or missing text. We do not offer or accept Trade Ins.
